Since the launch of Skyrim Special Edition, thousands of user-made mod creators have updated their projects to handle the jump from the original game. SkyUI launched for Skyrim Special Edition. A comprehensive bugfixing mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition. The goal of the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (aka USSEP) is to eventually fix every bug with Skyrim Special Edition not officially resolved by the developers to the limits of the Creation Kit and community-developed tools, in one easy-to-install package. Then in the bottom bar click 'Browse' and navigate to you Skyrim Special Edition's Data folder and save it as 'SkyUI.bsa' Go back to NMM and disable SkyUI's.esp in the Plugins tab and you should be set to go. Note: While it does work, it takes a while for your inventory to load, usually around 3-5 seconds.

After the latest Beyond Skyrim teaser trailer I jumped back in to Special Edition to try out the Bruma mod (it's pretty good).I also went through and updated most of my mods I had installed from about a year ago after Special Edition got the mod support/ports. But, a lot of the 'big' mods were still missing due to Skyrim Script Extender not being officially ported over too.

Well, that's changed (alpha, I guess, but reports are good) with a 64bit version here (Hoorah!) and was lauded to be the biggest deciding factor in Special Edition being pertinent to PC players. Thing is, quite a few modders have moved on prior to Special Edition and some of my much-loved mods are still not ported over.Also, these 'bigger' script-y mods don't seem to be readily available yet. Anyone know of any in the works or what is planned?Basically, Where's my Immersive College of Winterhold to make this lackluster castle better for a fledgling mage? Where's my Spellmaking and crafting mod to let me make my own spells a la Morrowind (great mod on OG Skyrim).Where's the game jam stuff I'm still waiting for from the same year the OG was released with actual seasonal changes, spell mixing via casting per hand (think Magicka/Magicka2)?But most importantly, suggest some mothafuggin' mods for 2018 peeps! It's a new year with a new edition and a new landscape to mod the hell out of one of the best sandbox games available!

Bethesda trying to capitalize on modders, modders wanting to get paid since to them it was a job now not a hobby, game pushing 7 years and other games have come out since then. Not to mention old mods don't work with the newer version and need to be reworked, which a lot of people who made those mods now have jobs and or have better things to do now.When Elder Scrolls 6 happens I'm sure we will see a new renaissance as long Bethesda provides the means to make mods. But at this point, it will be Bethesda that also destroys the community with their meddling. I just need to also state how fucking AMAZING Mod Organizer is.

Like, holy shit. Modding for a playthrough used to take all weekend, but I was literally ready in a couple hours. The longest step of the process is just finding the mods I want.You just download the zips in a mod folder, Mod Organizer extracts and keeps the files away from the main files AND puts shit in the correct load order all while denoting conflicts or overwrites.

Fucking technology y'all. Also works for OG skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind and all the rest. But yeah, that alone makes modding more accessible than ever before.

To contribute to my own thread, here are some of my favorite mods that I feel I will always have to include in any install or playthrough:Completely revamps the constellations, adding tons of new potential builds for varying characters - I also get the optional file to get 20% more perk points just to open up a bit more options. I'm currently making an illusion mage focusing on the Dream Thief branch of the tree. I'm also having fun with spells from this creator's other modGotta get the Ordinator Compatibility Patch, obviously, but given it is from the same creator as the best perk tree mod this works well in terms of consistency in quality.This is a must-have for anyone that has played Skyrim vanilla at least once - NOT being in the wagon and sitting through the rather janky starting of the game is a boon to replayability and juggling multiple characters. There's various optional files for other mods such as Beyond Skyrim: Bruma.This revamps the character creator with more options - all fitting and 'lore friendly' as muddled as I feel that term has become within the community. Also changes racial attributes (iirc).

More options that aren't big ol titty options are generally a no-brainer.Now, this is one I JUST tried out yesterday. The other night I was playing and my SO mentioned the constant stream of wolves just dashing at me and how wolves don't act like that at all. I agreed and then happened to stumble upon this. This is literally a game-changer. Aside from animals having a sort of warning phase when you get close before attacking, there is the added element that animals flee from fights (and will return again if feeling brave). I had forgotten how much of combat in these games are just 'I'm the enemy and I'm just going to run at you with no regard to safety or environment.'

I was fighting a giant mountain lion or some shit in the mountains and threw out some fire (animals fear fire momentarily) and booked it. I thought I was safe as I ran away as well and I started healing with my spells while turning to check - I about shit myself from getting scared by the fucker leaping right at me - something that NEVER happened to me in Skyrim before. This B-line dash fight of before was now somewhat unpredictable. It's a small change, but adds soooo much to the game. Animals will also vary who they attack and will hunt for food as well.There's a handful of others that are always high on the top mod lists that I feel don't need more promotion, but these 5 are definitely my must-haves for any playthrough now. Any reasoning? I glanced at the posts on Nexus, but didn't see a sticky or any recent comment/replies about it.It was the first overhaul mod I tried, but I'm too wussy and was getting mauled by mudcrabs so ditched it.

I then found Ordinator Perks and it changed the game enough for me to not really want an 'overhaul' to the game.And, yeah, SE runs soooo much smoother for me versus 32bit. I feel with renewed interest with Switch Version and VR there would be a rebirth of modders for PC now that more people have had a 'first experience' with Skyrim in other mediums and would then want to check out modded variants of the game.

The best way to find stuff is just to use Google and including reddit mod piracy in the search. You could just make a post there asking for what you want. It's not the most active subreddit, but it gets enough traffic that someone will have an answer.Its also worth mentioning that some stuff also just has better alternatives now. A lot of perk mods are like this.There's also a ton of stuff that has been updated, but just isn't on the big sites like Interesting NPCs. Theres a lot of strange politicking that goes on in mod science and people will delete things or have things get pulled for seemingly small things.

I just reinstalled SSE to mod it and I have to say I'm not surprised some mods haven't been ported over. The game is over half a decade old and many mod authors probably don't want to go through the hassle of troubleshooting, monitoring the community etc. Again, they're probably just moved on by now and are busy with new projects.I feel that this late in the cycle Skyrim modding isn't much about system overhauls anymore but big voice-acted DLC like mods and companions which is honestly really cool but not great for those whose main enjoyment is tinkering. I never bothered with either due to performance hit and unstable-ness. Heck, I never even tried SkyUI. This is how I feel. This is the next chapter of modding with Enderal and Beyond Skyrim and some 'smaller' narrative mods like Moon of Elswyr and Folkskarr or whatever filling in that medium tier of ambitious mods. With each new iteration or release of skyrim another set or generation of players are being introduced to the game and to mods. I see it as having as much legs, if not more, to Morrowind given how much time Skyrim has remained relevant and praised - especially compared to Oblivion.Even when Skyrim (the region) feels burned out, the Beyond Skyrim project will have whole regions open for modders to add onto or deepen with further quests or mods. It's exciting, really.And SE has had tons of support for mods, but I was mainly curious in this thread about SKSE64 and what it is or isn't adding to the scene more than a year later and after several months of the alpha being available.

SKSE on OG was lauded as a huge Boon for mods, but I'm not seeing anything of that for this new 64bit version. Honestly, the rumblings around modding and SKSE64 right now seem to be that everyone is worried about inevitable changes with SkyrimVR and Bethesda breaking everything. Having modded oldrim for so long, I completely forgot until a month ago that Bethesda is still updating the game, I guess prodominately to keep selling things through their mod store. Seems annoying, and the fact that they aren't going to fix the FPS bug just makes the whole thing frustrating. I put about 30 hours into this new game but it's just proving to provide an uglier, less well running experience (though it does crash a lot less).
