My HP laptop does not recognize some bootable usb devices in the boot menu. I have a HP tower and the laptop in my office and the tower will recognize and boot the a USB device that the laptop will not recognize in the boot menu. Laptop: HP Pavilion dm1z-4100, BIOS HP vF.19 2/4/2013, Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Nov 20, 2018 - Ubuntu 16.04 bootable flash drive not detected after bios update. I wanted to install Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit on my PC from a bootable usb drive. Well, somehow I downloaded it. And now when I want to set my bootable USB to first boot, it's gone. It's detected by the computer and the Legacy USB Supportis Auto to detect the USB drives. What should I do to put my bootable USB drive as first boot device?

When I boot from F8 boot menu with my USB drive it says 'MissingOperatingSystem'. What's the problem? I don't know what you mean by 'it's gone.'

I change it as the 1rst drive in Hard Disk Drive menu.
